the great flood
A friend of mine at the CBC called last week and asked if I would write a song about the floods in the prairies.
The catch is that it has to be written within two hours and then played live on air.
I agreed. I'm not sure why. The idea stresses me out. But as part of embracing things I fear I've accepted. Build character and all that.
More importantly I hope the exercise draws some positive attention towards the needs of families that have been affected.
I'm due at CBC in an hour. In three hours I will have written a new song (as will Marshall Burns of Rah Rah, who is also undertaking the challenge).
We'll get the first line from CBC listeners and then go from there.
Come hither, muse.
