take it on the road

Hello friends,

Years ago I visited Regina.  I had no intention of staying.  I was just passing through on my way to Montreal.

I'm still here.

There are many reasons for staying, but two of the best are my good friends and wonderful musicians, Jeremy Sauer and Elizabeth Curry.

We started a jazz trio a few years ago called The Continos - named in the spirit of accordion legend Dick Contino.  (Incidentally his fan club is the first that I've ever been a member of.)

This coming weekend is a bit of a Contino reunion (disguised as a Belle Plaine gig) out in North Battleford.  We're headed to the OSAC Conference where we'll showcase our wares for the fabulous rural arts councils in our province.

All three of us hail from small communities in Saskatchewan.  We're quite excited about the chance to play at this event.

What's best about it all is that I get to spend a weekend away with not only these two musicians, but also their significant others, my sweet fella and the band's talented sound lady.  All of whom are dear friends.  My dream, you see, is to take each and every one of them on the road.

We may be one step closer after this weekend.

Wish us luck!
